Identify the right game

At the start of a match, the October beginner guides describe one randomly assigned Chaser and the other players as Runners. Your role determines the next task. A Runner is trying to cross; a Chaser is trying to catch and convert the running side. You can change sides during the match.

Your first crossing

  1. Read your role and the crossing prompt. As a Runner, find the opposite boundary of the field. As a Chaser, watch the lanes the Runners can use to get there.
  2. Build movement before attempting an evasive dash. On PC, move with W/A/S/D. The early guides teach a left or right input with Space for a sideways dodge. Releasing movement produces a gradual slowdown; Alt is the documented instant stop.
  3. Cross with an exit in mind. Watch where the Chaser is facing. A nearby Gem pickup can be useful, but a detour directly into the pursuer is a poor exchange for one pickup.
  4. Read the next prompt after reaching the boundary. Getting across once does not finish the entire match. The beginner guides describe a three-crossing Runner goal; ProjectSupreme’s recording also refers to the Runner win at three.

Practice the specific input sequence in the dash guide. Its drills keep the direction disagreement between sources separate from the basic left/right movement you can start with.

Hero and Chicken are a decision, not a movement key

The GAMES.GG guide describes a randomly prompted Runner choosing between Hero, a solo crossing for a bonus, and Chicken, which keeps the normal group crossing. It does not establish a fixed bonus amount.

For your first match, understand the choice before accepting a solo attempt. Group movement divides the Chaser’s attention; the solo option asks you to handle the crossing yourself. A video creator recommending Hero every time is giving a play preference, not proving that every new player will complete it.

Read the result and the next role

A knife hit can down a Runner. The guides also describe a teammate revive before conversion and a single-use Rescue Kit; being downed and already becoming a Chaser are different states. If you are converted, your next task is to catch Runners rather than continue the Runner route.

The match has two opposing outcomes: the running side completes its crossing objective, or the Chasers convert the remaining Runners. Check the round and result prompts instead of treating one arrival at the line as a team win. As players change sides, the next crossing can have more pursuers than the previous one.

Once those states make sense, choose the Runner decisions or Chaser decisions for your current role.

Your first resource decision

Gems buy the permanent abilities described in the shop guides. Coins buy consumables, and only one consumable is described as equippable at a time. XP is progression rather than either spending balance.

Start with the Gems guide before spending. A permanent ability purchase, a one-use consumable and a Robux gamepass are separate purchases; buying an XP pass does not equip Cloak for you.
