Choose by the problem you need to solve

This comparison uses the early-guide effects and Gem prices, with later additions called out separately. It asks whether you need a barrier, concealment, displacement, reach or a standstill burst. Those are different decisions; a single universal rank would hide the role and situation.

The comparison is based on documented effects and author preferences. It does not supply measured success rates, a complete current ability set or an official balance ranking.

Your immediate need Option Early-guide Gem price Why consider it Tradeoff
An inexpensive first barrier Pocket Door 400 Lowest Gem amount among these early-guide Runner options; creates separation by putting a door in the path Chasers can break through or go around. You still need an exit.
Hide your path briefly Cloak 1,000 The guide favors its three-second concealment for losing line of sight You remain hittable; the card says using an item ends the cloak.
Push a nearby pursuer away Emergency Airhorn 1,000 Its effect addresses close pressure rather than long-range escape Range and wording vary between the early card and later recording.
Send a distraction ahead Inflatable Decoy 750 in the capture The card sends a straight-running copy It pops when caught; distraction is not guaranteed against every Chaser.

With fewer Gems, Pocket Door is the budget recommendation within this comparison. At 1,000 Gems, Cloak is the early GAMES.GG guide’s preferred Runner pick. That preference follows its concealment argument, not proof that it outperforms every later shield or every player’s use of a barrier.

Use Get Abilities after making the choice. The ownership and Equip step is the same distinction even when a tool is recommended.

Chaser choices

Swipe or scroll this table on a narrow screen.

Your immediate need Option Early-guide Gem price Supported reason Tradeoff
Close the gap to a Runner Rufus’s Leash 1,200 Pulls a target toward you; the early guide prefers it for this purpose A pull does not itself establish a converted target or a bigger knife hitbox.
Extend the next melee attempt Big Dagger 900 Temporarily increases reach for the next hit The early guide gives a five-second window; it is not an always-on knife-skin property.
Burst from a standstill Rocket Shoes 850 Supports a directional burst in that starting state Solves a movement situation rather than the same targeting problem as Leash.

For a Chaser who can read a Runner’s route, Leash has a clear gap-closing purpose. If the immediate problem is the next hit’s reach, Big Dagger is the more direct effect. Neither purchase substitutes for identifying where the target will move.

What these comparisons leave open

Default’s 9 October recording introduces One Hit Shield and Bear Trap, while a 10 October recording describes Bowling Ball. The later additions reference keeps those effects and their date beside them. The early guide’s ranking does not evaluate that full later set.

Creator titles and preferences also differ. An ability described as “overpowered” in a match recording is not a controlled comparison under the same opponent, role, connection and update. Choose by the effect you need, keep the role condition, and use the amount displayed by your shop when deciding whether to spend.
